Objective — to estimate the impact of obesity on the effectiveness of in vitro fertilization (IVF) programs in patients with tuboperitoneal infertility. Subject and methods. 159 patients with tuboperitoneal factor of infertility were divided into 2 groups: a study group of 59 women with obesity and a comparison group of 100 women with normal weight. Results. Patients with obesity considerably more frequently suffer from hypertension and cholecystitis and have hormone-dependent endometrial disease and latent sexual infections than those with normal weight. They have a higher percentage of no fertilization and lower embryo quality in the IVF protocol. Conclusion. When using IVF programs, patients suffering from tuboperitoneal infertility and obesity have been found to have a lower frequency of pregnancy and to bear the latter at full term.
