A retrospective multicenter study was conducted in 7 large clinics of Moscow and Moscow Region to assess the pattern of complications after surgical correction of genital prolapse and to estimate their number. The study included 421 patients with POP-Q grades II-IV descent and prolapse of the uterus and vaginal walls, which were associated with the impaired anatomy and function of the adjacent organs. All the patients underwent vaginal extraperitoneal colpopexy using a mesh prosthesis and Prolift tool kits. It was found that it was inexpedient to regard extraperitoneal colpopexy using the Prolift system as a mini-invasive intervention and to propose this technology as a routine treatment for genital prolapse as the surgery was followed by varying complications in 28% of cases.
