Abstract:

BACKGROUND

Odontogenic purulent inflammatory diseases constitute a large proportion of hospitalizations in the maxillofacial departments. They are dangerous for severe complications and high mortality.

THE AIM OF THE STUDY

Was to comparatively assess the methods of purulent wounds drainage in odontogenic purulent inflammatory diseases.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The study involved 93 patients aged from 20 to 49 (56 men, 37 women), ranked into 2 groups: 38 subjects in study (SG) and 55 — in comparison group (CG). Patients in the study group were actively drained using a closed drainage system.

RESULTS

For subjects in the study group, against the background of conducted active draining, improved overall health status and pain relief have been observed at the next day after surgical treatment. They were discharged with recovery.

CONCLUSIONS

Active drainage is an effective method of purulent wound treatment.
