Abstract:

To date, there is no clear treatment algorithm for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). A total of 78 patients, including 58 patients with nasal obstruction and 20 with hypertrophy of the palatine tonsils and uvula, which were accompanied by OSAS, were examined. Cardiorespiratory monitoring of nocturnal sleep revealed that rhinosurgery had a positive effect on the severity of OSAS in 14 cases, a negative effect in 14 patients, and failed in 30. It also showed that the patients who have been operated on for tonsillar (grade I—III) and uvula hypertrophy achieved a positive result in all cases.
