Early diagnosis of colorectal cancer and precancerous colon changes is an urgent task of modern medicine, for solving of which various screening strategies are being developed. The medical check-up program for adult population is designed to increase the frequency of detection of cancer with different localizations at the early stages of development.
OBJECTIVE
To evaluate the role of adult population’s medical check-up in the detection of colon diseases on the basis of statistical data from the prevention department.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
The analysis of the medical check-up results of persons, who seeked to the City Clinical Hospital №2 of Chelyabinsk for 2022 yr., has been conducted. The results were evaluated on the basis of registration cards, namely the form №131/o «Information about the medical check-up of certain groups of adults». According to the survey results, the groups of men and women were compared by identified diseases of gut.
RESULTS
A number of subjects equal 5240 took part in the first stage of medical check-up. Occult blood in the feces was found in 283 (5.4%) patients, who also responded positively to the questionnaire. Colonoscopy was performed in 4.3% of cases. The most frequently diagnosed anorectal disorders were chronic hemorrhoid (96 cases; 42.3%), more in men than women, and chronic anal fissure (31 cases; 13.7%). Adenomatous colon polyps were found in 11 (4.8%) and 6 (2.4%) men and women respectively, and tubulovillous colon adenoma was detected in 4 (1.8%) and 3 (1.3%) respectively (p>0.05).
CONCLUSION
Epithelial neoplasms of the colon were found in 0.5% of subjects, who underwent medical check-up. The data obtained from the medical check-up can be used to develop programs for detection and prevention of diseases of the colon.
