One of the most important aspects of rehabilitation is its effectiveness. Effective evaluation of therapeutic measures is based on the selection of examination methods that reliably reflect the most important aspects of human activity and their change during treatment. Current research is primarily focused on the problems of maintaining the performance capacity of the population. The SF-36 (the Short Form (36) Health Survey) allows quantitative characterization of the physical, emotional, and social components of quality of life and gives a focus on medical rehabilitation.
OBJECTIVE
To evaluate the impact of rehabilitation measures on the quality of life of patients with posttraumatic complications.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
The analysis of quality of life indicators of patients who received medical rehabilitation for posttraumatic upper and lower limb complications was conducted at the Ekaterinburg Medical and Research Center for Prevention and Health Protection of Industrial Workers. The study included 79 employees of different specialties: doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, managers, nurses, and workers of various specialties (painters, turners, metalworkers, electric welders, confectioners, salespersons, etc.). The mean age was 50.69±1.09 years. All participants were given the SF-36 questionnaire to complete before and after rehabilitation.
RESULTS
Results for each parameter of the SF-36 questionnaire are presented. The main aspects of reduced quality of life related to physical and mental health and social functioning are identified. The need for medical rehabilitation that addresses specific areas of ill-being, such as physical and mental health, role and social functioning, and others, has been demonstrated.
CONCLUSION
The SF-36 questionnaire can be used to identify problems in various areas of quality of life in the able-bodied population in need of medical rehabilitation after post-traumatic complications. It allows quantitative characterization of the physical, emotional, and social components of quality of life, accordingly directing the medical rehabilitation carried out by the multidisciplinary team.
