OBJECTIVE

To study the dynamics of indicators of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, oxidative stress and the pro-inflammatory status of obese patients receiving progestogen therapy for benign endometrial hyperplasia (EH).

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The study included 42 obese women aged 29 to 40 years (median value 36.0 (32.3; 38.4) years), who were diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia without atypia (glandular hyperplasia N85.0 ICD-10) with uterine bleeding in 15 patients (35.71%), or against the background of irregular menstruation (including opsomenorrhea) in the presence of echographic signs suspicious of endometrial pathology in 27 (64.28%).

RESULTS

The examined patients with EH who could be diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) differed from those who did not have such a pathology in worse indicators of both oxidative stress and a higher concentration of C-reactive protein.

CONCLUSION

In patients who are treated for endometrial hyperplasia in whom progestogen therapy is selected, the need to correct the associated metabolic disorders should be considered.
