High gynecological morbidity and somatic diseases lead to poor reproductive health and form high infertility rates. The need for the use of assisted reproductive technologies (ART) as the main high-tech approach to infertility treatment is increasing through the years. The effectiveness of ART is influenced by different points, and the quality of gametes is in priority. The selection of high-quality oocytes for in vitro fertilization is one of the most important stages of the ART program, but there are no uniform clear criteria for this procedure so far.
1) to analyze the state of the problem of oocyte quality assessment using various modern methods for predicting the outcome of ART procedure; 2) to evaluate the scientific data which represent the connection between the concentration of biomarkers in follicular fluid in different state of ovarian reserve.
Search for studies published in international and Russian databases and electronic resources (MedLine, EMBASE, eLibrary, cyberleninka) on the problem of evaluating of the quality of oocytes in ART using keywords.
Oocyte quality assessment is currently implemented using several approaches: assessment of the oocyte morphology, mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and follicular fluid (FF). All these methods provide information about the development of follicles and the quality of the oocytes. The variety of approaches and the lack of an objective system for the evaluation of the quality of oocytes in order to improve the effectiveness of ART programs justify the need for further research.
