Abstract:

Ovarian tissue cryopreservation and transplantation have been considered as promising means of fertility preservation for women with Hodgkin’s lymphoma (LH). The first spontaneous pregnancy and live birth in Russia after orthotopic transplantation of thawed ovarian tissue in a patient with LH was described. The patient spontaneously conceived 4 years after transplantation. After 38 weeks of gestation, a healthy girl weighing 3470 g was born. The described pregnancy is the second after ovarian tissue transplantation, whereas the first was achieved using IVF method three years ago. Transplantation of thawed ovarian tissue into orthotopic site may allow ovarian function restoration, spontaneous conception, and birth of a healthy baby. Therefore this clinical approach is recommended to preserve the fertility in cancer patients.
