Objective. To evaluate the efficacy of hormonal therapy in correction of skin aging and influence on physical and psychical health. Methods. 45 women from 35 to 50 years old were divided into three groups according to age. All patients used combined oral contraceptive Qlaira (Bayer) for 12 months. Results. After 6 months of therapy women from the group I (age 35-40 years) showed the increase of hydration that corresponded to age, women from group II (age 40-45 years) and group III (age 45-50 years) had lower hydration beyond the physiological range, but higher compared with basal state. According to skin elasticity analysis after 6 months of therapy more patients had elasticity improvement in groups I and II (31,3 and 21,2%) compared with group III (only 2.7%). 59% of women had alkaline basal skin pH, 34% - acidic pH in and only 7% had neutral basal skin pH. After 6 months of treatment a trend towards normalization of skin pH to 5.5 was observed in majority of the patients of all three groups. After 6 months of Qlaira use there were positive changes in skin ultrasound parameters in patients of all ages. Conclusion. Use of Qlaira for 6 months showed wide therapeutic possibilities of oral contraception in dermatology.
