Abstract:

The content of estrogen metabolites in patents with external genital endometriosis was studied. Proliferative metabolites (16α-hydroxyestrone 16α-OHE1) level in women with severe external endometriosis was significantly higher than the anti-proliferative metabolites (2-hydroxyestrone 2-OHE1) level. After combined surgical and medical treatment the pregnancy rate in patients with predominance of anti-proliferative or proliferative metabolites was 73.5% and 53.5%, respectively. Possible balance between estrogen metabolites in the urine may be recommended as a predictor of treatment efficacy of external genital endometriosis.
