Abstract:

OBJECTIVE

To study the long-term results of original technique of augmentation mammoplasty with silicone implants.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The authors presented long-term (>3 years) results of augmentation mammoplasty in 97 patients. Submuscular space for implants was prepared in such a way that implant edge was covered with muscles on all sides along the perimeter.

RESULTS

There was no skin rippling or any other visual signs of implant. Typical palpable implant edge was determined in none patient. Double fold or implant ptosis was not observed. There was high implant position in 3 cases. Recurrent ptosis after mastopexy occurred in 2 women. Capsular contracture Becker grade II was noted in 2 patients, grades III-IV — in none case. Animation deformation Spear grade II was detected in 8 patients, grade III-IV — in none case.

CONCLUSION

Subperimetric augmentation mammoplasty is a universal method of implant placement. It is applicable for hypomastia, involution-related hypotrophy and ptosis of mammary glands. This method is accompanied by low complication rate and favorable aesthetic results.
