Abstract:

Lung cancer incidence rates remain high in Russia and worldwide. Despite improvements in diagnostic techniques and the advent of new methods and treatment regimens, deaths from lung neoplasms in patients with malignancies take the lead. To adequately plan the volume of oncology care for this contingent of patients, it is common practice to rest on prognostic factors, such as the stage of the disease and the morphological type of tumors. Additional prognostic factors that can have an effect on the course of the disease and the results of treatment are being actively investigated in the past decades. The paper presents the authors' experience in surgically treating 1420 patients with non-small cell lung carcinoma, analyzes the major and additional clinical, anatomic, morphological, and genetic factors determining of the course of the disease and affecting its prognosis.
