Abstract:

The paper provides the clinical and morphological characteristics of low-grade gastric neuroendocrine tumors (carcinoids), by applying a comprehensive morphological study and the malignancy grading criteria proposed by the European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society and the WHO (2010) International Histological Classification of Tumors. It shows the expediency of using the classification principles and the possibility of objectifying the determination of proliferative activity, by analyzing the images. The background gastric mucosal changes to be monitored and taken into account when treatment is planned have been studied and characterized. Based on the findings and follow-up, the authors have given proof that both single and multiple low-grade gastric neuroendocrine tumors may be endoscopically treated.
