The article presents the dynamics of the clinical picture and its assessment in patients with chronic dermatosis (atopic dermatitis, eczema) when using cosmetics.
OBJECTIVE
To determine the efficacy and safety of cosmetics with pH 5.0 application in patients with chronic dermatosis (atopic dermatitis, eczema) using a moisturizing emulsion, cream and cleansing gel.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
There were 30 patients aged between 18 and 40 years (8 men and 22 women) under our supervision, 15 of them with atopic dermatitis and 15 with eczema. The diagnosis was made based on complaints, history and clinical picture of the disease. The efficacy of cosmetic products’ complex was evaluated by the dynamics of skin dryness and moisturizing. At the beginning of the treatment patients were given topical glucocorticosteroids 2 times a day for 14 days, then 2 times a week for 2 weeks and special skin care products on the other days for 4 weeks. For all patients with atopic dermatitis the SCORAD index was determined before and at the end of treatment, and for those with eczema — the EASI score and the index of itching by the VAS scale.
RESULTS
The positive results were received in all patients after treatment. The patients noted in dryness and moisturizing of skin. Side effects against the background of the conducted therapy were not registered. The use of special skin care products was positively evaluated.
CONCLUSION
The results of the study allow to recommend the inclusion in comprehensive therapy of patients with atopic dermatitis and eczema of special skin care products (moisturizing emulsion, restorative cream and cleansing gel), which help to restore skin barrier, that in turn leads to a significant reduction in skin dryness. These cosmetics can be characterized as effective, safe and recommended for clinical practice.
