BACKGROUND

The feasibility of the combined (stepwise) use of a native biorevitalizing agent and calcium hydroxyapatite to enhance the lifting effect is relevant; however, there are no data on clinical trials of this combination.

OBJECTIVE

To evaluate clinical efficacy, tolerability, and patient satisfaction with a sequential injection of a native biorevitalizing agent and calcium hydroxyapatite (standard or diluted in a 1:1 ratio) for correction of age-related skin changes in the lower third of the face, neck, and décolleté.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Fourteen healthy females aged 35—45 were included in an open, prospective, randomized, comparative pilot clinical study with immunohistochemical analysis. The study subjects were divided into experimental groups (1:1). At visit 1 (D01), all subjects received a single injection of a native biorevitalizing agent to the face and periauricular area; at the second stage (M01), group I subjects received a subcutaneous injection of diluted calcium hydroxyapatite, and group II subjects received standard calcium hydroxyapatite. As a primary endpoint, independent reviewers assessed clinical efficacy using Merz Aesthetics Scales. Secondary efficacy endpoints included GAIS, cutometry, and histomorphological assessment based on collagen types I and III and elastic fibers.

RESULTS

Successive injections of a native biorevitalizing agent and calcium hydroxyapatite provide clinical and histomorphological improvement. The results indicate the clinical advantage of using a combination of a native biorevitalizing agent and standard calcium hydroxyapatite compared to a combination of a native biorevitalizing agent and diluted calcium hydroxyapatite in terms of the remodeling effect intensity.
