Abstract:

Comorbidities are characterized by the development of mutual burden leading to significant diagnostic challenges. The management of such patients is often complicated by the fact that treatment of one disease may contribute to the worsening of the other. The focused specialization of healthcare facilities makes it difficult to adhere to a multidisciplinary approach, thus avoiding diagnostic and tactical errors. We present two clinical cases describing comorbidities in patients with chronic dermatoses. Challenges of differential diagnosis and therapy are analyzed, and possible interrelated mechanisms of comorbidity development are discussed. The attention of practitioners is drawn to the management of patients in this category, requiring an individual multidisciplinary approach. Determination of the risk of comorbidities and the cooperative planning of diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive measures by physicians of related specialties will prevent undesirable medical and social consequences arising in patients with comorbidities and improve the quality of medical care.
