RELEVANCE
Of the topic is the need to develop the effective methods of acne treatment in patients with connective tissue dysplasia.
OBJECTIVE
Evaluation of acne treatment effectiveness in patients with undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia (UCTD) using combination of 1% clindamycin phosphate and 15% azelaic acid.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
The study included 61 patients (mean age 25.4±5.1 years) with mild to moderate acne and signs of UCTD. Depending on the number of revealed signs of UCTD, patients were divided into 2 groups: main group (n=27) and comparison group (n=34). The severity of acne was assessed using the dermatological index of acne (DIA) after 4, 6 and 8 weeks of drugs’ application. All patients were prescribed the combined topical therapy with 1% clindamycin phosphate — «Klindavit» gel (morning) and 15% azelaic acid — «Azelik» gel (evening). The effectiveness of treatment was assessed by such criteria as clinical recovery, clinical improvement, and lack of effect.
RESULTS
In patients of the main group, signs of dysplasia of the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract, osteo-articular and asthenic syndromes prevailed, in the comparison group — asthenic syndrome, gastroenterological phenes, signs of dysplasia of the eyes, thrombocytopathy. As a result of 8 weeks combined therapy, clinical improvement was achieved in both groups. In the main group, DIA decreased from 9.43±0.67 to 6.58±0.57 points (p<0.05), in the comparison group — from 7.04±0.56 to 4.86±0.60 points (p<0.05).
CONCLUSION
External (topical) combined therapy of patients with acne and UCTD using 1% clindamycin phosphate and 15% azelaic acid made it possible to achieve a good clinical effect in both patients’ groups, however, in the main group the less positive DIA dynamics was observed than in group of comparison.
