RELEVANCE
Post-acne syndrome manifests as areas of post-inflammatory erythema and hyperpigmentation, uneven skin texture, and scarring. The symptoms of post-acne lead to a significant aesthetic defect. Post-acne scars have a considerable impact on the patient’s self-esteem and quality of life. Enzymatic preparations of hyaluronidase are actively used to treat pathological skin scars. Phoresis methods are used to introduce medicinal products and enhance the effectiveness of therapy for post-acne symptoms.
OBJECTIVE
To evaluate the effectiveness of the cream with conjugated hyaluronidase in treating patients with post-acne syndrome.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
Twenty patients aged 19 to 35 with a diagnosis of mild to moderate acne and manifestations of post-acne syndrome were under observation. Patients in Group 1 (n=10) received therapy in the form of topical application of the cream with conjugated hyaluronidase for 8 weeks, while patients in Group 2 (n=10) underwent ultrasonophoresis with this cream for 10 procedures, followed by topical application for 4 weeks. Photographic documentation and instrumental skin diagnostics were performed using Antera 3D and DAB Cutis devices to evaluate the effectiveness of the therapy. The severity of scars was assessed using the POSAS scar assessment scale.
RESULTS
In Group 1, a significant reduction in redness severity was noted, from 82.200±25.306 to 61.300±17.588 after 8 weeks of treatment, as well as a significant decrease in pigmentation level from 43.500±12.150 to 36.300±6.584 (p<0.05). According to ultrasound scanning, the dermis’s acoustic density was 0.8 before treatment and increased to 0.9 after using the cream. In Group 2, a more pronounced significant decrease in redness severity, pigmentation level, and reduction in the volume of scar tissue was observed.
CONCLUSION
Regularly applying a cream with conjugated hyaluronidase reduces the severity of post-acne elements, particularly hyperpigmentation, post-inflammatory erythema, and the volume of post-acne scars.
