The post-acne symptom complex includes post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and scarring. The problem is aggravated by excoriation, unprofessional extraction of comedones or inflammatory elements. According to a number of authors, post-acne can be formed in 90% of patients with acne. There is a direct correlation with the severity of acne, but scarring can form in mild to moderate acne severity. Post-acne significantly reduces the quality of life of patients, causing psychological and emotional problems, including suicidal thoughts. Therefore, it is extremely important to identify predictors of post-acne formation for early appointment of systemic therapy. It is also important to assess the severity of scars, as this directly affects the choice of treatment method. Correction of post-acne scars can be performed simultaneously with drug therapy for acne or after the end of the main course of treatment. Various methods are available for the treatment of post-acne scars, including chemical peeling, dermabrasion/microdermabrasion, radiofrequency method, tissue skin boosters, non-ablative fractional resurfacing and ablative lasers, broadband light (IPL, BBL). As additional methods, you can use ultrasound therapy, microcurrent therapy, drug phoresis, in cases of hypertrophic and keloid scars — Buchi therapy. For a complex effect on both hyperpigmentation and post-acne scars, combined methods are used, in which hardware techniques are combined with injection or topical therapy. This article provides an overview of the main modern methods of treatment of post-acne scars, both medical and hardware.
