Abstract:

The article describes the aspects of microbial factor and inflammation in the pathogenesis of acne. Based on the published data, we analyzed the issues of drug resistance of Propionibacterium acnes and ways to overcome it. Particular attention was paid to the topical antiacne product based on zinc-erythromycin complex (Zinerit solution); the role of erythromycin and zinc as the drug components, having a synergistic anti-acne effect on all pathogenetic elements of the disease, was shown. We summarized the results of the long-term experience with the use of Zinerit solution as a monotherapy, in combination therapy (in females receiving antiandrogen preparation), and as a supplementary method in patients with acne conglobata at the beginning of the course of treatment with systemic isotretinoin.
