According to the guidelines on the treatment of patients with atopic dermatitis, topical glucocorticosteroids are the first-line pharmaceuticals to manage exacerbations. In the case of the localized process, they are used as a monotherapy in combination with emollients. In the case of the advanced process they are used in the complex of therapeutic measures. Selection of an adequate (in accordance with the clinical presentation) vehicle of the drug product is an important issue of the topical treatment of dermatoses. Material and methods. The study included 48 patients diagnosed with atopic dermatitis according to the basic criteria. Depending on the clinical presentation, the patient were administered with hydrocortisone-17-butyrate in the form of Lokoid Lipokrem or Lokoid Krelo as a topical treatment, which was applied 1—3 times a day until clinical remission. Results and discussion. The formulations of hydrocortisone-17-butyrate are highly effective against all clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis. The preparations may be applied on the skin areas with high absorptivity (face and folds) at any stage of inflammation in patients with atopic dermatitis. Conclusions. Hydrocortisone-17-butyrate, can be recommended as a first-line therapy in patients with various forms of atopic dermatitis.
