Abstract:

Surgical treatment of 36 patients with aneurisms of common and internal carotid arteries was analyzed. 34 patients had reconstructive operations, whereas the rest 2 had ligative operations. One patient died postoperatively of the acute cerebrovascular insufficiency. Generally, 4 patients developed symptoms of the acute cerebrovascular insufficiency. The lethality within 5 years after the operation was 16.6%. The reconstructive carotid surgery proved to be the effective and safe method for the treatment of aneurisms of extracranial portions of carotid arteries.
