Abstract:

OBJECTIVE

To study the effectiveness of diagnostic methods for anatomical variants of anomalous pulmonary venous return.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

For the period from January 2008 to December 2021, diagnostic interventions were performed in 59 patients (41 (69.5%) men and 18 (30.5%) women). Sensitivity, specificity and overall accuracy in relation to atrial septal defect and patent ductus arteriosus in patients with total anomalous pulmonary venous return were studied. We also performed correlation analysis between echocardiography, angiocardiography and computed tomography (CT).

RESULTS

Correlation of left ventricular end-diastolic volumes between echocardiography and angiocardiography was studied. The following correlations were obtained: R Spearman = 0.89, Tau Kendal = 0.77, Gamma = 0.79, Pearson’s correlation coefficient = 0.96. These data indicate high accuracy of echocardiography in relation to angiocardiography. Thus, we can consider echocardiography data in assessing the volume-linear parameters of the left ventricle.

CONCLUSION

CT demonstrates outstanding performance in diagnostics and significantly influences surgical treatment and postoperative outcomes. When assessing pulmonary circulation, there are significant problems regarding the effectiveness of standard methods. This is due to their physical limitations and difficult interpretation of diagnostic information.
