Abstract:

Results of monopolar (MP group - 82 patients) and bipolar (BP group - 104 patients) ablation were analyzed in patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing correction of valvular heart diseases. Hospital mortality amounted 1.2% (1 patient) in the MP group and 0.96% (1 patient) in the BP. Time of ablation amounted 28,9±7,8 min and 14,5±5,7 min in the MP and BP groups respectively. By the moment of discharge stable sinus rhythm was observed in 62 (75.6%) patients from the MP group and 88 (84.6%) patients from the BP group. In 5 (6.1%) patients from MP group and 7 (6.7%) patients from the BP group pacemaker implantation was required for sinus node dysfunction. In long-term period (36 months) absence of atrial fibrillation and flutter was observed in 78.6% of patients after bipolar ablation and only 55.9% of patients after monopolar ablation. Ablation in patients with valvular heart diseases and atrial fibrillation is efficient and safe. Application of bipolar device demonstrates advantages in long-term results of treatment.
