Abstract:

Renal function was studied in 42 patients with coarctation of aorta at stages of surgical treatment. Signs of acute tubular injury combined with cortical and medullar kidney damage were observed in 25% of patients in the 1 day after the operation. On the 2 day after the operation concentrating renal function began to improve. By the 3 day after surgical intervention renal function returned to preoperative state excluding the capacity to concentrate urine. Changes in renal function after the operation were related to reorganization of renal hemodynamics and decreased perfusion of cortical layers after reconstruction of narrowed aortal segment. It is shown that operations for coarctation of aorta are accompanied by transitory disturbances in the work of glomerular and tubular renal apparatus that don't require any additional correction and normalize by 2-3 day after the operation.
