Abstract:

This literature review concerns the efficiency and spectrum of adverse reactions during therapy with various sclerosing preparations. Results of clinical and experimental investigations are presented to demonstrate the mechanisms of action of modern sclerosing agents and their influence on the blood coagulation system. The relationship between the intensity of therapeutic intervention, frequency and spectrum of adverse events and complications is discussed. The authors conclude that the most commonly used sclerosing medicines (polydocanol and sodium tetradecyl sulfate) are virtually identical as far as their principal characteristics being compared are concerned.
