Abstract:

OBJECTIVE

To evaluate the first results of the Glubran 2 cyanoacrylate (manufacturer GEM LLC, Italy) fixation technique in laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal plasty.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The object of the study were patients between the ages of 18 and 80 with type II—III B inguinal hernias according to the NYHUS classification, who underwent minimally invasive surgical treatment: laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal repair in the inguinal canal area with fixation of a mesh endoprosthesis using Glubran 2 cyanoacrylate glue.

RESULTS

In the early postoperative period, patients assessed the level of pain according to the visual analogue scale (VAS), which was minimal: 1—2 days after surgery from 3 to 4 on a 10-point scale, which is a low indicator in comparison with the control group, and from 0 up to 3 points 2 weeks after surgery.

CONCLUSION

The obtained first results of using a combination of adhesive fixation using Glubran 2 cyanoacrylate glue and a new type of mesh endoprosthesis Reperen-10-2 (manufacturer Icon Lab GmbH Ltd., Russia) inspire optimism and allow us to judge the technical feasibility and its effectiveness, as well as the low incidence of pain syndrome in the early postoperative period.
