The purpose of the study. Assess the quality of life of patients with bullous emphysema after surgical treatment.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Having used questionnaires SF-36 and SOBQ on patients with bullous emphysema after surgical treatment in 1, 3, 6 and 12 months, patients have been divided into 2 groups by operative access. 1 group patients — the main one — were performed video-assisted thoracoscopy. Volume of surgical intervention: resection of a bullous-altered area of lung tissue, subtotal parietal pleurectomy. Group 2 is comparison, performed thoracotomy with the same amount of surgical intervention as in the first one.
RESULTS
The analysis of main indicators of the SF-36 questionnaire revealed significantly statistically higher level of quality of life indicators in patients performed video-assisted thoracoscopy. The differences in the main indicators between groups preserved in 6 months after operative procedure. Even in 12 months after surgery, indicators such as vital activity, social functioning, mental health and the psychological component of health remained significantly higher in the first group. The SOBQ questionnaire results showed significant difference in the video-assisted thoracoscopy group.
CONCLUSION
The analysis of the results of the questionnaire survey of patients with bullous emphysema in the postoperative period shows the significant advantages of video-assisted thoracoscopy, including faster postoperative rehabilitation. Additionally, there is required more detailed assessment of the quality of life in patients after various mini-invasive technologies.
