Introduction. Thoracoscopic reconstruction of congenital and acquired abnormalities of the diaphragm in neonates and infants is an alternative to surgical treatment of these diseases with the use of laparotomy and thoracotomy. The purpose of research — to compare the results of open and minimally invasive operations. Material and methods. 108 patients were in 2 groups: a group of 65 patients with congenital diaphragmatic Bochdalek hernia and a group of 43 patients with evisceration of the diaphragm. Minimally invasive operations performed in 62 patients (37 and 25 respectively in each group). Analyzed of the demographic, intraoperative and postoperative parameters. Results. Patients in both groups had similar demographic characteristics and preoperative parameters. Open and thoracoscopic surgery differed significantly in terms of duration. Length of stay in the neonatal intensive care unit and the total period of stay in the hospital after endosurgical interventions were less than after open. By the number of relapses groups did not differ. Cases of postoperative adhesive intestinal obstruction prevailed in the group of open surgery. Conclusion. Thoracoscopic plasty of the diaphragm abnormalities in newborns and infants demonstrates better outcomes than open surgery.
