Abstract:

Despite of most investigators' recognition of laparoscopic surgery treatment for colon cancer the validity of laparoscopic interventions for rectum cancer treatment is still prejudiced. This fact is caused by significant technical difficulties due to the rectum topographic anatomy. The authors of multiple non-randomized studies report the comparability of immediate and long-term results of open and laparoscopic rectum interventions and advantages of laparoscopic method. However, by this time there has been no the evidence of laparoscopic rectum surgery preference and that defines the actuality of issue being studied. The authors of the article made an attempt to introduce contemporary stage of the issue based on scientific literature review.
