Abstract:

Aim — to analyse some variables in liver cancer including morbidity, mortality, quality of specialized care and in-hospital survival in the clinics of Department of Presidential Affairs of the Russian Federation. Material and methods. Current views regarding etiological factors, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer, incidence and prevalence of liver cancer in the world and in Russia are reviewed in the article. So, 227 cases of primary liver malignancies have been diagnosed for the 35-year period, lifetime morphological verification of liver cancer was 75%. Results. Disease-related annual mortality is 61.5% after diagnosis. This value is 51.6% for the last 5-year period. In general, we revealed positive changes in the quality of medical and diagnostic care. Five-year periods reflecting development of medical and diagnostic base were studied. case report from the clinical practice is presented.
