Abstract:

Acute portal vein thrombosis (APVT) is a partial or complete occlusion of blood flow in the portal vein, resulting from the presence of a thrombus in its lumen. The causes of APVT can be systemic factors such as congenital and acquired thrombophilia and local ones such as inflammatory, infectious, and oncological diseases of the abdominal cavity. APVT is a potentially life-threatening condition that presents significant difficulties in diagnosing and choosing a patient’s treatment strategy. Currently, there are no recommended treatment protocols for this pathology. The article presents clinical observations of successful and timely diagnosis and treatment of portal and mesenteric vein thrombosis in the postpartum period.
