Herpesvirus infections take the lead in the structure of human infectious viral diseases and are an important sociomedical problem due to increases in the incidence and proportion of common, atypical, and relapsing forms of the disease. Objective: to investigate the efficacy of Panavir in treating patients with recurrent genital herpes to optimize the treatment of this patient group. Subjects and methods. 33 patients aged 18 to 44 years who were diagnosed with recurrent genital herpes on the basis of clinical manifestations and laboratory findings were followed up. All the patients underwent clinical, laboratory, general somatic, gynecological examinations. Polymerase chain reaction was used to diagnose genital herpes. Results. Panavir was found to be an effective and safe drug in the treatment of patients with recurrent genital herpes, reduces the duration of clinical manifestations of a recurrence, and increases the period of remission by 1.5—2-fold. Conclusion. The drug may be commonly used to treat patients with genital herpes.
