A protocol for intraoperatively stopping and preventing the obstetric bleeding associated with cesarean section was elaborated and introduced. Seventy operations, including 57 surgical interventions during cesarean section to stop obstetric bleeding, were performed; of them there were two-level uterine artery ligation in 27 patients, compression suture application in 28, and a combination of either in 2. Prophylactic two-level uterine artery ligation during cesarean section was made in 13 patients at high risk for hypotonic bleeding. Two-level uterine artery ligation during cesarean section in case of occurrence of uterine hemorrhage, as well as for its prophylactic purpose was established to be a highly effective method to stop bleeding and to spare the uterus (91.2%) and hence reproductive function.
