The clinical and morphological features of fibrocystic disease (FCD) concurrent with uterine leiomyoma and adenomyosis were analyzed in 98 patients (a study group). A control group consisted of 35 patients with FCD without pathological uterine changes. The authors performed clinical laboratory examinations, ultrasonography, color Doppler mapping, Doppler study, and morphological and immunohistochemical investigations of resected breast tissues in nodular FCD. Clinical, echographic, and immunohistochemical characteristics were ascertained in the patients with FCD and uterine pathology. The results of immunohistochemical investigations of breast tissue in the patients with nodular FCD concurrent with uterine leiomyoma and adenomyosis reflect the higher proliferative activity of the breast glandular epithelium in the foci of fibrocystic mastopathy, the higher production of growth factors and its receptors than in those with FCD without pathological uterine changes. The concurrence of uterine leiomyoma and adenomyosis is a ground for a meticulous examination of the breast in such women.
