The number of participants in modern hostilities is increasing in Russia. Chronic psychosocial stress in daily life has a proven negative impact on hypertension (AH) development and progression. However, the domestic literature does not provide enough information on the impact of stress responses during and after hostilities on an increase in blood pressure (BP) level and the future course of AH, its prevention, and treatment in combatants. This study analyses the available research on the topic. According to foreign authors, stress responses in combatants result in a higher possibility of developing AH and its unfavorable course in the nearest and further follow-up. They propose an earlier follow-up and antihypertensive therapy initiation at lower BP levels against the background of stress responses related to hostilities, but no certain algorithm has been developed. Domestic research is required to study the association between stress responses during and after hostilities and the risk of AH development and its course to elaborate the schemes for diagnostics, risk stratification, and selection of optimal antihypertensive therapy.
