Coronavirus infection can present with various cardiovascular complications. The article presents a case of development of takotsubo syndrome and myocardial infarction type 2 in a 71-year-old patient with underlying severe viral pneumonia caused by a new coronavirus infection. The patient was admitted with a suspected acute coronary syndrome without ST-segment elevation. She had documented bilateral viral pneumonia and changes typical for takotsubo syndrome on ventriculography and echocardiography with intact coronary arteries on coronarography. Myocardial infarction type 2, which probably was the cause of death, occurred on the day 7 of the disease and was identified only at autopsy. The article discusses the relationships of COVID-19, takotsubo syndrome and type 2 myocardial infarction.
