Cervical cancer (CC) has a special place in the structure of female morbidity. According to the WHO, 274,900 of 529,400 women with new-onset CC die in the world every year. In countries where mass screening programs are underway at the governmental level, CC morbidity and mortality have declined over the past decade and account for 4.4% of the number of all malignant neoplasms in females. Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the main etiological factor in the pathogenesis of CC. Progression from the early stage of HPV infection to CC takes place over a period of up to 7 years, so regular female screening is a very effective way of significantly declining the number of CC cases. However, to date, the effectiveness of preventive measures remains low throughout the country, considerably reducing the prospect of success of treatment.
