Abstract:

This paper deals with the history of the discovery and use of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) (aspirin), one of the most well-known drugs. It traces the development and use range expansion of aspirin, its role in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Particular emphasis is placed on the use of ASA in patients with cerebrovascular disorders.
