Abstract:

Levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) Mirena helps to manage a complex of well-known problems of a menopausal transition. Numerous benefits of the menopausal hormonal therapy including LNG-IUS plus various forms of estrogens are the following: the reliable contraceptive effect; treatment of uterine bleedings, effecttive protection from endometrial hyperplasia; individualization of therapy; good tolerance; lack of clinically relevant effects on plasma lipids and carbohydrate metabolism or other markers associated with cardiovascular risk. Women using the LNG-IUS plus estrogen replacement therapy experience improvements in quality of life; adherence and continuation rates are high.
