BACKGROUND
The predominance of plant and liquid foods in the diet reduces the dynamic load on the dental system, which leads to a change in the type of chewing. Therefore, preventive measures aimed at engineering health through rational nutrition of Russian residents are very important, including through the involvement of all segments of the population in a culture of balanced food consumption.
OBJECTIVE
Based on the survey data, assess the degree of dependence of the main characteristics of the dental system on the nature of nutrition.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
A survey was conducted containing 9 semantic questions regarding the state of the dental system, nutritional status, age (date of birth), gender of the patient and region of residence. Data collection was carried out through an online questionnaire format for a dentist on the Google Sheets platform. In total, the study took into account the data of 210 patients, whose average age was 25.41 years.
RESULTS
In our study, 85.2% of respondents indicated timely teething, 11.5% — late and only 3.3% — premature; 57% of the patients surveyed had dentofacial and dentoalveolar anomalies. Our study showed that the most common anomaly is the position of individual teeth (35.1% of observations) and the relationship of the dental arches (19.7% of observations). Anomalies in the shape of the dental arches amounted to 9.6%, position 8.5% and jaw size 8%. By type of diet, respondents are divided as follows: 59.5% of respondents indicated a balanced diet, and 30.2% noted the predominance of products related to youth nutrition and soft food in the diet.
CONCLUSION
The obtained data from the pilot observation reflect the tendency of the influence of a balanced diet before adulthood on the formation of the human dental system.
