AIM OF STUDY

Analysis of results of radical surgical treatment of patients with cancer of left half of the colon and rectum with laparoscopic and open surgical procedures as part of Fast Track Surgery.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

An analysis of treatment of 339 patients who underwent radical colon surgery performed by laparoscopic and open method using Fast Track was made. The number of repeated operations, the volume of blood loss, the number of complications and the timing of the recovery postoperative period with open and laparoscopic interventions are analyzed.

RESULTS

According to the results, minimally invasive surgeries are comparable to open surgeries, they have fewer complications, low blood loss, reduce the patient’s need for postoperative pain management, significantly reliably restore intestinal motility, which ensures timely transition to enteral nutrition, and also reduces the recovery time for physical activity and length of hospital stay.

CONCLUSION

The use of laparoscopic interventions helps to reduce the number of postoperative complications, as well as accelerate the rehabilitation process and improve the quality of life of patients after radical surgical treatment.
