Abstract:

The review presents the history of development of surgery for rectal ampullary cancer and the main stages of its optimization. It gives data on the incidence and mortality of rectal cancer in Russia. It also considers the data available in the literature on the main aspects of oncological radicalism in different variants of currently performed surgical interventions for rectal ampullary cancer.
