Sixty patients with late radiation injuries to the small pelvic organs (cystitis, rectitis, and radiation-induced intrapelvic fibrosis with dysfunction of one or both kidneys) were treated. A needle was brought to and the pharmaceutical agent Rexod was administered to the area under interest (ulcer floor, highest-fibrosis areas, ureteric orifice) under real-time ultrasound guidance. For its maximum accurate trajectory, the authors used special adapters on a rectal or vaginal probe. According to the clinical picture of a disease and the efficiency of performed measures, the course of treatment was 3-6 injections every alternate day every 3 months during a year with their further continuation decision. A control examination revealed that most patients had decreased bladder ulceration, diminished fibrosis in the adjacent tissues, enhanced blood circulation, and reductions in pain syndrome, dysuria, and hemoptysis, as well as in the length of hospital stay by an average of one week.
