Abstract:

Organ-saving operations are of considerable current use in cancer surgery practice to treat patients with detected early-stage breast cancer (BC). Individualized plastic surgery procedures that are incontrary to the principles of oncology and at the same time help patients meet their aesthetic demands are one of the principles of cancer plastic surgery. Fifty-two patients with BC received organ-saving treatment with their breast tissue remodulation; 27 (51.9%) of them underwent organ-saving surgery by repositioning the nipple-areolar complex on an inferior glandular pedicle when the tumor was located in the upper quadrants; 13 (25.0%) patients did this by applying an superior glandular pedicle when the tumor was located in the lower quadrants; 8 (15.4%) were operated on via simple volume replacement and 4 (7.7%) were by employing the subcutaneous flap of the latissimus dorsi. The breast tissue remained after resection and the nipple-areolar complex on a glandular pedicle was a main plastic material used for breast reconstruction. Twenty-two patients were followed up within 2 years after surgery. Survival in Stage 1 BC was 96.6%; no local recurrence cases were seen throughout the follow-up.
