The review presents the accumulated experience of foreign colleagues of the new coronavirus infection laboratory testing as the most urgent medical problem at the moment, shows the difficulties encountered in molecular and immunological diagnostics of SARS-CoV-2 and possible ways to solve them. The effectiveness of certain diagnostic methods is shown depending on the stage of the infectious process and on the set diagnostic aims. The importance of using certain diagnostic methods for mass testing of individuals for SARS-CoV-2 was also noted, which could quickly identify potential participants in the epidemic process and control the spread of a new coronavirus infection. The role of SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic test systems use in outpatient settings with no laboratory is discussed, that could simplify and significantly speed up the diagnostic process. This review could be useful for both laboratory staff and clinicians who are currently working with a new coronivirus infection.
