Psoriasis is a common chronic immune-mediated inflammatory dermatosis with complex pathogenetic mechanisms, often associated with metabolic syndrome or its individual components. Chronic inflammation and genetic determinants may be potential biological bonds that underlie this association. It is believed that pro-inflammatory cytokines contribute to both the formation of psoriasis and atherogenesis, peripheral insulin resistance, the development of arterial hypertension and type II diabetes mellitus. Thus, the role of chronic inflammation, causing metabolic and vascular disorders, is increasingly recognized. Given the presence of comorbidity, there is no doubt that a patient with psoriasis needs a personalized approach to the observation and treatment of not only a dermatologist, but also a therapist, endocrinologist, cardiologist and other specialists. Currently, the development of a concept, methodology and screening tools for concomitant diseases in patients with psoriasis is being actively discussed, which is extremely important for daily dermatological practice. We present an analytical review of the literature and our own practical experience with an emphasis on the clinical aspects of psoriasis as a marker of the metabolic syndrome. Some frequently of common and rare dermatological nosologies are examined in detail, the assessment of which as interdependent pathologies has important diagnostic value and will contribute to the adequate treatment of patients.
