Guidelines for treatment of acne consider two main points: the severity of the pathological process, including location of rash, and medical history with allowance for patient’s psychosocial maladjustment. Particular attention should be drawn to the following components of therapy: life quality and compliance of patients. The goal is to improve of the former, while the compliance largely determines the effectiveness of the treatment itself. The use of medical cosmetics can improve efficacy, prevent or stop side effects of drug treatment. Material and methods. The study included 312 patients, mostly with mild to moderate acne. At the time of the first visit, most patients (92%) have received various treatments, including systemic (retinoids, antibiotics, contraceptives) and/or topical (retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, antibiotics, azelaic acid, combination drugs), according to the severity of acne. Depending on the effectiveness, treatment tactics was changed or complemented during visit D1. Avene Cleanance Expert skin cosmetics was also prescribed. Results. Avene Cleanance Expert emulsion has anticomedogenic, sebostatic, and anti-inflammatory effects, resulting in high efficacy against all clinical symptoms of acne. Inclusion of Avene Cleanance Expert emulsion to the therapeutic complex increases the efficacy and tolerability of the standard drug therapy regardless of the severity and location of acne. Administration of cream either as monotherapy, or in combination with drug treatment (topical, systemic) significantly improves patients’ quality of life.
