The issues of acne treatment are a topical problem of dermatology due to the high prevalence of this dermatosis, variety of clinical manifestations, significant cosmetic defects, leading to decreased quality of life and social deadaptation of patients. Objective. The study is aimed at assessing the clinical efficacy and tolerability of topical treatment with preparations of adapalene (Adaclean) and azelaic acid (Azix-Derm) in treatment of mild to moderate acne. Material and methods. Our study was conducted at the Department of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery, cosmetic, and regenerative medicine of the Rostov State Medical University, Ekaterininskaya Clinic, and Mir-O-MED Clinic (Krasnodar) and involved 50 patients aged 16 to 50 years with mild to moderate acne, including 18 (36%) males and 32 (64%) females. Group 1 patients (n=16) with comedonal acne without inflammatory elements were advises to apply Adaclean cream once a day along with skin care. Group 2 patients (n=34) with mild to moderate papulopustular acne were administered with a combination of adapalene and azelaic acid (Adaclean+Azix-Derm). Results. Clinical cure was observed in 59% of patients, significant improvement — 38%, and partial response — 3%. Conclusion. Concomitant use of the pathogenetically targeted topical drugs (such as Adaclean and Azix-Derm) in the combination therapy of acne can significantly improve the efficacy of treatment, provide a stable positive clinical response, and improve the quality of life of most patients.
